InterActiveCorp、米Ask Jeevesを20億ドルで買収か？

Barry Diller 氏率いる米InterActiveCorp (IAC)が米4位の検索会社Ask Jeevesの買収で合意に近づいていると米New York TimesとWall Street Journalが報じている。買収金額は約20億ドル。

InterActiveCorpは、ネット旅行予約サービスのExpedia、チケット販売のTicketmaster、ホームショッピングのHome Shopping Network, 出会い系サイトのMatch.com、そしてオンラインイエローページのCitySearchなど多様なインターネットビジネスを展開する企業。買収が成功すれば、InterActiveCorpはYahoo!, Googleが支配する検索市場への進出に足がかりをつけることができ、Ask Jeevesもユーザーへの露出機会を大幅に高めることが可能となるなど、双方にとってメリットをもたらすだろう。
