米GoogleがAJAXベースの検索サービスを一部のユーザ限定で提供していることが判明し、海外の検索系フォーラムやブログで話題となっている。（私のPCは、運良く（？） AJAXベースの検索結果が現れています）
Googleが限定的に試験提供しているのはAJAXを使った検索結果の表示。このテスト対象になっているPCでGoogleを利用する時は、URL文字列が「www.google.com/#」となっている（例えば、air ticket san francisco で検索した時の文字列は、http://www.google.com/#hl=en&q=air+ticket+san+francisco&fp=Rhq7p-mUk-o）。
この話題が騒がれているのは、AJAXベースの検索結果は次の2つの問題を抱えていること。
第1に、サードパーティなどが提供する検索順位を自動的に取得するツールが使用できなくなることだ。理由は、AJAXベースの検索結果のHTMLソースコードには、各々のサイトのタイトルや説明文、URLが記述されていないため、ツールを利用した順位確認ができなくなってしまう。Googleは公式サイトなどで、機械的にランキングを取得するツールの使用は控えるように呼びかけており、特に悪質なツールはIPやUser-Agentなどでブロックしている。
2点目の問題は、キーワードリファラが取得できないこと。これはAJAXを利用して検索結果画面が推移する場合、リファラ情報がサーバに送信されないため、JavaScriptを使ったWeb解析ツールではキーワード情報が取得できない。
この問題についてGoogleスポークスマンは、ユーザエクスペリエンスの向上を目的とした新しいUIや機能のテストを常時行っており、今回のAJAXベースの検索結果もその1つと説明。ただ、リファラの追跡を妨げる意図はなく、解決策を模索しているとコメントしている。
“We’re continually testing new interfaces and features to enhance the user experience. We are currently experimenting with a javascript enhanced result page because we believe that it may ultimately provide a faster experience for our users. At this time only a small percentage of users will see this experiment. It is not our intention to disrupt referrer tracking, and we are continuing to iterate on this project. Currently AJAX results are just a test on Google. At this time only a small percentage of users will see this experiment. It is not our intention to disrupt referrer tracking, and we are continuing to iterate on this project and are actively working towards a solution. 幸い、私のPCはAJAXのテストに当たったので、使用感を簡単に伝えると、画面切り替えが早くなったという印象です。たとえば、ウェブ検索から地図に移動する時など。それ以外は特に違いはありません。体感でも感じる切り替えの早さなので、快適にはなります。
