Internet Marketing Ninjas のCEO・Jim Boykin氏は2012年10月17日、米国の老舗ウェブマスターコミュニティ・WebmasterWorld を買収したことを発表した。WebmasterWorld の創設者・Brett Tabke 氏によると、今後は現在ラスベガスで開催中のイベント・Pubcon に注力するため、WebmasterWorld の売却を決断したとのこと。
Jim Boykin氏はすでに SEO Chat forums を含む Developer Shed ネットワークや、Cre8asite Forums も獲得している。同氏はこれら人気コミュニティのソーシャル化を推進すると話している。
WebmasterWorld は1990年代から運営されているインターネットマーケティングの話題を扱うコミュニティ。検索業界の話題ではランキングアルゴリズムのアップデートや Google の主導対策（manual actions）やペナルティの議論・情報交換が盛んな人気サイトだ。まだGoogleの公式ブログやTwitter、Facebook がなかった時代に、 Googleguy を名乗る Google 社員が大規模なランキングアルゴリズム変更時に見解を投稿していたこともある。

古くからの業界の人間でないと意味がわからないニュースですね。。WebmasterWorld、SEO Chat、Cre8asite Forum などは1990年代に創設されている、ウェブマスターの集うコミュニティです。私も昔は SEO Chat や Cre8asite Forum をよく読んでいました。WebmasterWorld は Googleguy が参加していたりと情報は濃いのですが無駄も多く、個人的には（当時は）ウェブデザイン系やユーザエクスペリエンスの話題も多く少数のエキスパートが有益な情報を提供していた Cre8asite Forum が大好きでした。
