beu blogによると、Googleが「ドアウェイページ（doorway page、誘導ページ）」の定義を変更した。Googleのウェブマスター向けヘルプセンターでの該当項目の記述が変更されている。日本語版の変更は確認されていない（2008/06/03）。

Doorway pages are pages specifically made for search engines. Doorway pages contain many links - often several hundred - that are of little to no use to the visitor, and do not contain valuable content. HTML sitemaps are a valuable resource for your visitors, but ensure that these pages of links are easy for your visitors to navigate. If you have a number of links to include, consider organizing them into categories or into multiple pages. But in doing so, ensure that they are intended for visitors to navigate the sections of your site, and not simply for search engines.
ドアウェイページとは、まだページ最適化が最重要だった1990年代後半に登場したSEO手法。たとえば altavista、Inktomi、infoseek、exciteなど各検索エンジンごとや、誘導したいキーワードごとに個別にページを作成し、検索上位に表示することで容易にトラフィックを誘導する手法。これらの作業を自動的に行うドアウェイページ自動作成ツールも多数登場した。その後、順位決定要素としてリンクが登場した直後もhallway linkと組み合わせてドアウェイページは重宝されたが、リンクの重要度が高まるにつれてドアウェイページは効果が薄れ、廃れていた。ブログやRSSフィードなど簡単にページを作成したり他人のコンテンツを取り込める環境が整ったことで、ふたたびドアウェイページを利用した誘導方法が一部で流行っている。
さて、今回Googleが新たに定義しなおしたドアウェイページの定義は時代を反映したもので、変更前と比較してより一般的に、"typically large sets of poor-quality pages where each page is optimized for a specific keyword or phrase."と表現したほか、変更前に言及していたリンクについて削除されている。今日のドアウェイページはかつてのように大量のリンクを必ずしも並べるわけではないし、一般的な表現とどめ、どのような構成のページがガイドラインに違反するかを曖昧に示すことで、ウェブマスターがスパム行為に手を染めるのを防止しよとする狙いがあると考えられる。
